AN application has been submitted to Redditch Council for a new indoor children’s play centre in Astwood Bank.

If permission is granted, the centre would be built in Astwood Business Park, Astwood Farm, in Astwood Lane.

The business, Imagination Street, proposes to occupy the whole of one of the buildings in the business park, which would provide a large internal space for soft play frames and other activities, as well as the opportunity to create small, individual party rooms, dressing up rooms and computer rooms.

It is proposed to create a reception area, servery and kitchen, a small managerial office, four small party rooms and toilets. The vast majority of the floor space would be left open to accommodate play equipment and provide for various activities. A small maezzanine floor area would br created, providing five further small party rooms and toilets.

There would be parking provision for 50 vehicles including three bays designated for disabled drivers.

Approximately seven full-time members of staff would be employed on the site as well as another 25 part-time staff members and it is expected these will be filled by the local community.

Imagination Street said the centre would particularly provide work opportunities and experience for younger local adults who often combine the work with a college course - especially linked with a child care qualification.

In its planning statement, the company said: “Imagination Street proposes, as it presently does from its Bromsgrove centre, to work with local nurseries and special schools, and special needs agencies, to promote healthy living, exercise through fun and also good attendance in school.”

The target age range for the proposed centre is 0-nine years.
