Anti-social behaviour and drug use highlighted as PACT concerns

ANTI-social behaviour and concerns about drug use were the main focuses of a PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting in Redditch.

Woodrow and Greenlands PACT took place on Thursday, January 12, at Auxerre House, and was well attended.

Residents raised concerns about anti-social behaviour and youths gaining access to Auxerre House and causing a nuisance and minor damage in the communal areas. There were also concerns that drugs are being used in some of the flats.

Local Policing Officer PC Nigel Bennett said: "The meeting was dominated by concerns about anti-social behaviour and drug use. These issues are obviously very important to the local community and police are taking positive action to deal with them.

"We will be patrolling the area to identify those responsible, and members of the public are being asked to contact police if they see groups congregating there, rather than confronting the groups themselves.

"We would remind residents that one of the main parts of PACT is the ‘Partners' which includes the local community. It is information from local residents that helps us get to the bottom of the issues that are raised at PACT and we would urge them to call us with any information they may have."

Anyone with information should call the Local Policing Team 0300 333 3000 ext 3859 or e-mail greenlands.lpt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk. They can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

The next meeting for Woodrow and Greenlands is on Thursday, February 9 at 7pm at Auxerre House, Auxerre Avenue, and anyone living or working locally is welcome to attend.
