MEMBERS of The Bridge Expressive Arts Project (BEAP) - formerly St. Luke’s Expressive Arts - are celebrating a grant was awarded to them through Grassroots.
This new funding will enable organisers to offer three new workshops to young people this spring. Drum kit lessons, a community choir and also art workshops will be on the agenda for this already well-established project.
BEAP, which meets at St. Luke’s Memorial Hall, in Headless Cross, will now meet every night of the week, offering after-school expressive arts opportunities to young people of Redditch and surrounding areas. This gives local young people and children the chance to learn a new instrument or participate in art workshops.
As well as offering the new ventures, the project already offers pipe organ, guitar, keyboard and African drumming lessons. The project offers subsidised sessions, allowing people of all backgrounds to receive quality music and art lessons at affordable prices.
BEAP is now in its sixth year and is always looking for new youngsters to join the sessions, as well as looking for new ways of fundraising.
Spokesman the Rev Maureen Dew said: “The project not only allows youngsters to learn a new talent, but it also encourages and develops the skills of older members of the project, who are now, in turn ,teaching their chosen instrument to new project members.”
