INFORMATION is being sought by police following an assault on a man at Tesco in Coldfield Drive in Redditch.
Officers were called to the supermarket during the evening of Monday, November 16 following reports that a group of youths were behaving in an antisocial manner near the recycling bins, throwing rubbish and pushing trolleys towards passing cars.
A couple using the car park between 11pm and 11.30pm had a trolley pushed into the side of their car and while the male headed into the store to report it, a group of youths approached his girlfriend sat in the car. As he returned and went to her assistance, the man was assaulted by around four of the males from the group who hit him on the head and face. The group then left the area, running off towards the underpass leading to Mickleton Close.
A cream coloured Smart car left parked near the recycling area at Tesco between 7pm and 11.25pm the same evening was also damaged, with the driver and passenger windows shattered.
Pc Richard Thomas from Redditch police said: “We are appealing to anyone who recalls seeing a group of youths near the recycling area on Tesco’s car park on the evening of Monday, November 16 to give police a call. We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the male being assaulted or the windows being smashed on the cream coloured Smart car.”
