A REDDITCH bank manager proved that he was good with money by donating £1,000 to charity after running the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Spencer Greaves, who is NatWest’s senior bank manager for Worcester, gave up a Sunday earlier this year to run the 26.2 gruelling miles of the Stratford-upon-Avon based marathon on behalf of the Barnardo’s Safe and Sound Appeal, which supports children who have suffered sexual abuse.
“Like me, many of my friends, colleagues and customers are very much aware of the important work the Barnardo’s Safe and Sound Appeal does locally, so I wanted to do something to help,” said Spencer.
“Having completed the marathon I wanted to continue fundraising until the £1,000 figure was reached. This really has been a personal challenge for me and I want to say a big thank you to my family, friends and customers whose generosity has helped me achieve this goal.”
Hula Al Saedy, the Barnardos Safe and Sound Appeal manager, who accepted the donation from Spencer, thanked him for his support.
“We have a huge task of raising £750,000 over the next three years to support this essential charity and Spencer has given our fund raising a great boost.
“Anyone wanting to find out more about Safe and Sound or wanting to make a donation to the appeal will find all they need to know on our website www.barnardos.org.uk/safeandsound."
