THE final figures for this year's Relay For Life in Redditch have been announced.
More than £116,000 has been raised for Cancer Research UK that will go toward working to improve and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease (last year's figure was £106,013).
Giving out the figures at a party held at Studley Road Social Club last week, event chair Alison Ryan thanked all who had volunteered or supported this year's Relay.
"Given the present economic climate this is an amazing figure," she said.
"Everyone involved and all those who gave money and support from the local community can feel very proud indeed.
“This years huge total means that since 2006 when the first Relay For Life was held in Redditch a simply incredible amount of £337,713 has been raised locally for Cancer Research UK.
“Now we are looking forward to next year and have already booked June 5 and 6 at the same venue in Edgioake Lane.”
Anyone interested in being involved either as a team member, survivor, committee member or volunteer can visit www.cancerresearchuk.org/relay.
