Angling club tackles big project

THANKS to the dedication and hard work of one club, Skilts Pool in Mappleborough Green has been restored.

Matchbox Angling Club took over the management of the pool in March and has worked tirelessly since to turn it, and the surrounding area, into a fishing venue and natural beauty spot.

The club worked in conjunction with land owner Paul Whitehouse and his son Stuart.

To celebrate the end of the project an open day is being held in August to allow the public to view the area and facilities.

A spokesman from the club said: “This has only been achieved with the help of many local residents and businesses.

“Special thanks should go to Liza Charles for allowing her facilities to be used for disabled parking and Simon Beckett for allowing his property to be used for disabled access.

“The landowner, who has fully supported this project, should also be thanked.”
