WORCESTERSHIRE’S Director of Public Health will be on hand to answer any questions that Redditch and Bromsgrove residents may have on swine flu at NHS Worcestershire’s annual health fair and annual meeting on Monday, July 13.
Dr Richard Harling will be doing a presentation on swine flu and how it has affected Worcestershire, followed by a question and answer session for the public, at the event being held at the Guildhall in Worcester High Street.
The free event, which is on from 10am-4pm, will feature over 30 stands giving visitors information on local health services and wellbeing initiatives.
Visitors will be able to access information on how to quit smoking, locate their nearest NHS dentist, find out about screening programmes, learn how to prevent falls and recognise the early signs of a stroke. There will also be the opportunity to find out about the forthcoming Worcester Walk-In Health Centre, take a fascinating look inside a new ambulance and demonstrate how fit you really are on the Nintendo Wii.
NHS Worcestershire will also be holding its annual meeting at 10am in the court room of the Guildhall, where the board will present the annual report for 2008/09. The chance to question Dr Harling on swine flu will come immediately after at 11am.
Dr Bryan Smith, Chairman of NHS Worcestershire, said: “One thing that is critical is that we understand properly what you, the public, want from the local NHS. Our AGM is one opportunity to find this out. We are even having presentations from local schoolchildren who will be telling us what they want from the NHS.”
