A BELLY dancing teacher is organising a big NSPCC fundraising event in Redditch and people are being urged to give it a twirl.

Georgia Finocchiaro, who runs Redditch belly dancing classes, is holding a sponsored Bellython after the horrific case of Baby P featured in recent news.

“There are so many children out there who suffer abuse and neglect,” said Georgia.

“I wanted to organise a fundraiser to help the NSPCC. We held a Bellython last year and raised more than £1,500 for Breast Cancer Care. I want this event to be bigger, and with the help of other teachers and dancers we’re going to make it.”

Georgia has enlisted the help of other national belly dance teachers and of members of Facebook groups who campaign against child abuse and neglect. There is a Facebook event: www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=35742693499 that has already gathered the support of people from all over the country. The event is also listed on the Baby P Tribute Fund website www.thebabyptributefund.co.uk.

The event will take place at the Kingsley Sports Centre’s main hall on Sunday, January 25 from 10am-3pm.

Participants will be dancing under the instruction of Georgia and other teachers and will be sponsored to complete as many hours as possible.

The event is suitable for people who have never belly danced and a chance for participants to enjoy learning some belly dance moves, get a good workout and help raise money for a great cause.

Event sponsors, Fruscìo, a Leamington designer clothing and lingerie shop, will be covering costs and donating 10 per cent of sales made on their stall on the day to the NSPCC. There will also be raffles.
