PEOPLE are being urged to forget the credit crunch and winter gloom as the Redditch Winter Ale Festival makes a welcome return after a two-year absence.

Run by volunteer members of the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the event will be held at Bridley Moor & Batchley Social Club, a short distance from Redditch bus and train stations.

Full opening hours are Friday, January 23 from 6-11pm and Saturday, January 24 from 11am-11pm. The festival will feature 36 real ales and will focus on beer designed to keep out the winter chills.

A selection of quality cider made from apples and perry made from pears will also be on offer.

CAMRA is keen to support and promote local producers so visitors should look out for beers and ciders from Worcestershire and Warwickshire brewers and producers.

On Saturday there will be entertainment from the Loungeroom Lizards, an acoustic duo, which will be playing covers, specialising in the 60s and 70s.

The Redditch Winter Ale Festival charity will be the Acorns Children’s Trust.

The CAMRA shop will be selling a range of goods and books.

A full range of other drinks and food including soft drinks will be available on site.

The cost of entry is just £4, discount for card carrying CAMRA members, and this includes a commemorative glass and colour programme.
