REDDITCH is getting set for a mass protest against “out of date” cannabis laws which has attracted attention from across the globe.
The protest is being organised by a campaigner called Pinky, from the Protest London organisation, who said he wanted to “hit” Home Secretary and Redditch MP Jacqui Smith “where it most hurts”.
Thousands of people are expected to gather in Redditch Town Centre on Saturday from 11am to voice their support for the legalisation of cannabis.
Pinky, who uses cannabis for medicinal purposes, said: “Cannabis should be controlled, taxed and licensed. The current law is completely out of date.
“Redditch is the home of Jacqui Smith. We will hit her where it hurts most – home.
“We are still being ignored, but this protest is going to be big. We have a large PA, and reggae MC Ras Bruno will be attending. I’m the most talked about activist online at the moment. People are watching this protest worldwide, I’ve received emails from as far as Australia.
“I’ve also had emails from people in Paris and Holland who want to come and join the protest.”
Pinky said he and fellow campaigners had contacted Jacqui Smith but received no response and that Ms Smith had ignored advice given to her by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, where most of its members judged that cannabis should remain a Class C drug and not be upgraded.
He added: “Jacqui Smith and this out of date government have a lot of questions to answer. I would personally like to invite her to our protest. She has made a mistake – not us.”
Alun Buffry, a founder-member of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance said: “Several years ago, we challenged the Home Office to explain why our government insists on punishing people for possession or cultivation of cannabis plants for their own use in their own private homes if they do no harm.
“We feel it’s time the Government answered this simple question: Why do you arrest people for cannabis even when they’ve done no harm to others and even when they claim medical or other benefit from its use?
“That is why we call upon the Home Secretary to come and tell us in Redditch. However we expect the usual response – the diary is full.”
A spokesman for Jacqui Smith said: “As ever Jacqui will be glad to meet any constituent at one of her surgeries – we have had no request for a meeting or an appointment from anyone connected with the campaign.”

please can someone ask jacqui smith a few questions for us cannabis users.
as a mp who admits she used cannabis has such a bad outlook overall on the drug, it never sent her mad (this could be debated!)
why ignore all users inc medicinal users who have medical backing, that cannabis is the only drug which works well as opoids don’t work for pain etc. the nhs cant help which she has proof of i might add. who the nhs want people like me to use cannabis to give myself and others a better way of like.
why spend millions of pounds getting people to research cannabis use and the totally ignore the advise given to her by the acmd council? they advised cannabis should stay at a class c drug. caffeine is more harmful than cannabis yet caffeine is not a controlled substance and is given to children even though your twice as likely to get mental illness using caffeine rather than cannabis!
the acmd council advised that mental illness might be linked with mental illness with the developing brain in teenagers the same as drinking and smoking. yet wacky jacqui smith has called for reclassification back to class be due to the fact of a possible link with mental illness. we don’t want children using cannabis, we are calling for a regulated outlet like we have with alcohol and tobacco. we know this causes more harm that cannabis fact, as alcahol and tobacco are the main killers in the uk. we are calling the minimum age to be raised from £10 to at least 18 to stop children running the risk of developing any possible form of mental illness.
people are quick to point out bad sides of the drug, not the good sides. we are forced into using cannabis that has been mixed with class a drugs, cacogenic materials, ground glass's, plastics, old engine oils etc. this is what is causing the problems with cannabis not the cannabis iits self. oh i forgot to mention the sales of cannabis illegally in this country is paying for organised crime. it cost £10 on average to grow an ounce of cannabis yet we are forced to pay over £200 for clean cannabis in the uk. that’s £190 per ounce funding terrorism etc in the uk.

Usa have done research 13 states have gone legal for medicinal use, you can buy in vending machines or grow with backing of a doctor. 2 states are going for full legalisation to free up much needed police time as cannabis users are not a threat to society there is proof that cannabis stops cancers spreading and reduces the size of tumours. there is a cancer cure in cannabis me suffering from cancer I will also use cannabis to cure the tumors I have when I have tried NHS treatments 1st. what right do this government have to stop us curing or prolonging our lives with the use of a weed that grows like stinging nettles!

Cannabis protesting cost me savings I had so I could buy a mpv with a ramp to take my powered wheelchair and family around in a adapted vehicle this money has been lost now and the chance to save it again is long gone. Trying to get Gordon brown and Jacqui smith to listen has cost a cripple like myself to get out of bed by taking NHS meds which arfe killing me just so I can get someone in the government to listen. My name is Pinky(Jim) Starr, I’ve just handed a petition to number 10 and the PM. This was hand delivered on the 25th June to state how people of the UK believe people should have the right to use Cannabis to self medicate without the fear of prosecution. I still await Gordon Brown’s personal response. This petition was also signed by MP’s, doctors, rev, and people from different religions and different walks of life.

Please see my pain in this picture, just the journey could of caused me paralysis and has caused me further neurological problems. Only Cannabis kept me going that day. I passed a box of my pain and over 5000 signatures in to number 10 that day.
Why do you ignore us medical users of cannabis and the results of the ACMD meeting. There is no proof that using Cannabis can cause mental illness and it’s proven, only excessive abuse could possibly lead to a speeding up of certain mental illnesses.
Only one possible case by someone who severely abused the drug is not good enough reason to lock medicinal and recreational users up in prison for 5 years, for the same time of someone who has just been convicted of manslaughter.
We all have to go to back street dealers and fund criminal activity. I have had people steel my money many times as I’m unable to run after them. Why do we have to go to back street dealers to get Cannabis? All we are doing is funding the black market for £2000 a year. we could grow our own if were able to by law. I cannot grow myself as I don’t want to be taken away from my children. I’m a family person just like you!
Alcohol is fuelling the knife problems in the UK not Cannabis.
Your law under class c saw my friend locked up for 8 months, Victor Hamilton had Cannabis in his home for personal use. It was proven in court he had full medical backing and he gets 8 months of hell because he cannot use NHS meds due to internal medical problems.

You cannot kill people with Cannabis only cure certain cancers, stops them spreading. Stops breast cancer spreading, shrinks brain tumours and is better than morphine and other opoids for pain. Better than valium for spasticity and muscle spasms… it stops sickness and increases weight gain in people who are undergoing chemotherapy…. Oh did people forget to tell you this?

You didn’t ask the NHS why so many people and specialists write asking for licences to support medicinal Cannabis users who suffer from pain etc which they see in surgery. If you had of contacted the NHS they would of stated that letting people use and grow there own Cannabis would save the NHS billions of pounds in money, due to huge savings on expensive medication we are needing to try and control the problems we suffering legally. If Cannabis helps them, they don’t need as many expensive chemicals from the NHS.
There has never in the history books been a Cannabis drug related death. Cannabis is a lot less harmful than alcohol, please note how many deaths there are form alcohol abuse. We only use cannabis not abuse the drug.
Please run the same meeting with the ACMD council regarding alcohol and the see what figures they come back to you with . One in two hundred and fifty people who abuse drink will form psychosis PROVEN.
We sat at the end of Downing Street on Whitehall for the day on the 25th June 2008 thousands of people passed, we smoked hundreds of joints, including one I smoked all the way to number 10. I’m a medicinal Cannabis user who the NHS has let down.
The police turned a blind eye and there was not one complaint was passed to the police present or station about that day. Please ask the police who were present if we deserved to be all locked up for using Cannabis. I have started a campaign to give medicinal Cannabis users the rights to self medicate with Cannabis without the fear of prosecution.
I have the backing of charities and organisations who are 100% behind me financially support. I am the voice of thousands of people in the UK who are bed ridden who could lead a better way of life if you would have a heart to let them live a better way of life legally.
My uncle was ignored by our government and my aunty Julie was left to rot in pain with MS as her religion stopped her using the drug legally. My uncle wrote to get licences and was ignored as we all have been.

Many people agree with you on the new cannabis laws until they hear the truth about the drug and start asking why you ignore all the evidence available.
If you think we’re asking to much then why can people legally use Cannabis on the streets when there doctor gives them a Cannabis licence to take away with them to anywhere in the EU (in bud form) when people in the UK are been locked up for doing so. There is a way we can go abroad and get a prescription to use Cannabis in this country, but when our doctors want to give it to us and they cant, you decide we need locking up for 5 years doing so.
Can I please ask you why we deserve 5 years in prison for giving ourselves a better way of life, we have medical backing that Cannabis is the only drug we react well too?
I have friends who are sectioned under mental health act without Cannabis. The NHS medications fail to control there mental schizophrenic state. when they use Cannabis they lead a normal way of life.

We will be protesting in Redditch in October.
Look at USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland medicinal cannabis laws. They all back medicinal Cannabis users and medicinal Cannabis users are now free from prosecution there.
I also stand up to support recreational users too. I’d rather stay within a group of smokers nowadays, drinkers are to dangerous and so violent to hang around with.. they will be supporting downgrading Cannabis with us.

Your law under class c saw my friend locked up for 8 months, Victor Hamilton had Cannabis in his home for personal use. It was proven in court he had full medical backing and he gets 8 months of hell because he cannot use NHS meds due to internal medical problems.

You cannot kill people with Cannabis only cure certain cancers, stops them spreading. Stops breast cancer spreading, shrinks brain tumours and is better than morphine and other opoids for pain. Better than valium for spasticity and muscle spasms… it stops sickness and increases weight gain in people who are undergoing chemotherapy…. Oh did people forget to tell you this?

You didn’t ask the NHS why so many people and specialists write asking for licences to support medicinal Cannabis users who suffer from pain etc which they see in surgery. If you had of contacted the NHS they would of stated that letting people use and grow there own Cannabis would save the NHS billions of pounds in money, due to huge savings on expensive medication we are needing to try and control the problems we suffering legally. If Cannabis helps them, they don’t need as many expensive chemicals from the NHS.
There has never in the history books been a Cannabis drug related death. Cannabis is a lot less harmful than alcohol, please note how many deaths there are form alcohol abuse. We only use cannabis not abuse the drug.
Please run the same meeting with the ACMD council regarding alcohol and the see what figures they come back to you with . One in two hundred and fifty people who abuse drink will form psychosis PROVEN.
We sat at the end of Downing Street on Whitehall for the day on the 25th June 2008 thousands of people passed, we smoked hundreds of joints, including one I smoked all the way to number 10. I’m a medicinal Cannabis user who the NHS has let down.
The police turned a blind eye and there was not one complaint was passed to the police present or station about that day. I have started a campaign to give medicinal Cannabis users the rights to self medicate with Cannabis without the fear of prosecution.
I have the backing of charities and organisations who are 100% behind me financially support. I am the voice of thousands of people in the UK who are bed ridden who could lead a better way of life if you would have a heart to let them live a better way of life legally.
My uncle was ignored by our government and my aunty Julie was left to rot in pain with MS as her religion stopped her using the drug legally. My uncle wrote to get licences and was ignored as we all have been.

Many people agree with you on the new cannabis laws until they hear the truth about the drug and start asking why you ignore all the evidence available.
If you think we’re asking to much then why can people legally use Cannabis on the streets when there doctor gives them a Cannabis licence to take away with them to anywhere in the EU (in bud form) when people in the UK are been locked up for doing so. There is a way we can go abroad and get a prescription to use Cannabis in this country, but when our doctors want to give it to us and they cant, you decide we need locking up for 5 years doing so.
Can I please ask you why we deserve 5 years in prison for giving ourselves a better way of life, we have medical backing that Cannabis is the only drug we react well too?
I have friends who are sectioned under mental health act without Cannabis. The NHS medications fail to control there mental schizophrenic state. when they use Cannabis they lead a normal way of life.

Then you come on the scene and all you can say is for medicinal Cannabis users to go and get more help from the NHS or face 5 years in prison.

What happens when you have in writing that the NHS state that all conventional treatments fail and Cannabis is the only drug that controls conditions giving them a better way of life?

As we cant stand and fight we will combine in masses and sit down and get seen and heard in your home town of Redditch later on this year.
Medicinal users combined with recreational users will be lobbying you in your home town. We will not be left to be ignored, so we go away or die and leave you in peace.

I would like to meet you in person, with a selected few medicinal and recreational users of Cannabis including doctors who can explain the properties of medicinal Cannabis. Lets hope you listen to the individuals as you have proven you have ignored all committees and organisations so far.

We will be protesting in Redditch in October.
Look at USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland medicinal cannabis laws. They all back medicinal Cannabis users and medicinal Cannabis users are now free from prosecution there.
I also stand up to support recreational users too. I’d rather stay within a group of smokers nowadays, drinkers are to dangerous and so violent to hang around with.. they will be supporting downgrading Cannabis with us.
The trip will possibly cause me irreversible nerve damage. We should not even have to leave home. This is the pain you are causing people. Just because you wont listen to any of us!
The protest will be large, to large for Redditch to handle. We will close roads with barricades of disabled people in wheelchairs if this is needed for us to get noticed

p.s. 80- years ago cannabis was made illegal because it caused paralysis. this was a lie so the law was brought in due to unlawful actions by Egypt due to the cotton trade wars.

such a warm welcome and showing support for our Legalise Cannabis
Protest in Redditch last Saturday, Oct 18th.
Unfortunately your MP and our Home Secretary Jacqui Spliff failed to
turn up to speak to us. What's worse is that - according to the local press - she claims she never received the invitation from "Pinky", the protest organiser and at a time when she is asking for more power to read people's private emails and text when she clearly has problems with her own.
Pinky has evidence of delivery of the letter and LCA sent an invitation by email.
Ms Smith says she will be happy to meet with her constituents in her
surgery - so we are APPEALING to the voters of Redditch to make an
appointment to see her and ask her this question: "Why does she want to
increase the penalties for possession of cannabis when she knows well that the vast majority do no harm - just as she herself did no harm when she herself was in possession of cannabis years ago when she was a human being?"
If the Home Secretary will not answer to the people of Britain, maybe she will answer you - please let us know. We really must try to stop this disaster of prohibition.
