WHILE customers of Mount Pleasant Post Office fight to keep it open, customers of the main town centre post office will soon benefit from a refurbishment.

The Post Office says the work at the office in Alcester Street will provide customers with a lighter, brighter, more modern environment and improved customer service.

The refurbishment is set to be finished by mid-October.

Once complete, the new look branch will include a new queuing system and improved access for disabled customers.

A Post Office spokesman said: “We operate in extremely competitive markets and it is vital our retail outlets offer an attractive and bright environment in order to retain and attract customers.

“The investment in Redditch Post Office will not only offer better customer service, but will also provide a more professional environment for the Post Office team to offer customers information on the wide range of services available, such as great value telephony, travel and financial services products.”

The branch will remain open during the refurbishment and will continue to offer the full range of services.

The Post Office said it would be making every effort to ensure that any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum, with the majority of work taking place outside of opening hours.

The spokesman added: “The refurbishment will result in a new modern and efficient layout which will deliver real customer benefits.

“We expect that the work will take just over two weeks to complete. I am sure that customers will be delighted with the improvements to customer service provided by the new branch format.”
