Charlie set to delight Droitwich

1:28pm Saturday 10th May 2008

BRITAIN'S Got Talent star Charlie Green will be among the acts wowing the audience at a charity concert in Droitwich tonight.

Viewers recently saw the town's 10-year-old singer win praise from notoriously tough judge Simon Cowell for his performance on the TV programme.

Now, they have the chance to see him for themselves at the concert which has been arranged by Droitwich Mayor Richard Morris.

Charlie, of Coppice Way, will join fellow pupils from Westacre Middle School choir and group Vocal Score to perform songs including Beatles hits, Food Glorious Food, from Oliver, and tunes from Les Miserables.

He will also sing a solo session which is likely to include Frank Sinatra's Summer Rain, the song he performed for the programme's celebrity judges.

However, as yet, only half the tickets available for the concert have been sold and Coun Morris encouraged people to come along.

He said: "The choir has been rehearsing since January.

"It's my last concert as Mayor and there will be lots of songs that people know. There is also refreshments included in the ticket price and a raffle."

The concert will be held at 7.30pm at the Sacred Heart Church, Worcester Road, Droitwich, and tickets, costing £10, are available from St Richard's House, Victoria Square, or by calling 01905 774258.

The concert will raise money for the Mayor's charities, Air Training Corps, Army Cadet Force and Worcestershire Young Carers.
