A CAT mad entrepreneur from Redditch has appeared on TV show Dragons Den - and come away successful.

Amateur inventor Peter Hill was praised for his 'neat' pitch which saw multi-millionaire Deborah Meaden invest £30,000 for his inventions and a third of his business, Petvictus.

Pete, council housing officer by day, believes he has invented the purr-fect pet food bowl to keep food fresh and sealed when not in use.

He was inspired to come up with an original prototype for Pedaldish after finding his own cats' food was covered in fly eggs.

Using parts from a pedal bin in his garage, he built a design which solved the problem by keeping food in a sealed container with a flap lid.

He spent two years modifying his design before funding from Worcestershire County Council’s Proof of Concept programme helped him to subsidise the first 3,000 products, now on sale exclusively at Pets at Home.

Cats or small dogs step onto a ramp to open a lid, which has a shallow bowl inside for a single portion of meat and a deeper bowl for larger meals.

The other invention he was showing the Dragons was a cat phone, an ultrasonic whistle which he said when blown at meal times gives a clear signal to a cat that fresh food is available.

Both inventions have the aim of cutting down feline food wastage.

After a lot of questions, bemused faces, and rejections, it was self-confessed cat lady Deborah Meaden that took the plunge and invested.

Speaking afterwards Pete said he was "relieved".
