DESPITE reports that fewer students have been accepted on degree courses at UK universities this year, teenagers in Redditch and Alcester have been celebrating.

Hundreds of students have been picking up their A-level results today.

Alcester Grammar School is once again celebrating superb A-level results, with a record 70 per cent of entries graded A*- B. This figure is even higher (over 84 per cent) for those students who have been at the school for the whole of their secondary education.

Clive Sentance, principal, said:“I’d like to congratulate everyone at the school on these results. They are a combination of consistently excellent teaching, strong pastoral support and thorough exam preparation
together with a wonderful student ethos of hard work and a love of learning."

RSA Academy Arrow Vale are also celebrating the achievement of a set of very pleasing results.

45 per cent of all the grades achieved were at A*-B, with half of all students achieving at least one A/A* grade.

The A-level maths results were a particular highlight with 40 per cent of students achieving an at A*/A and 80 per cent of students achieving at A*-B.

Principal Ian Mellor said: "This is a fantastic set of results and is testament to the hard work of students, staff and parents."

Students at Tudor Grange Academy achieved a 97 per cent pass rate across A-level qualifications and a 100 per cent pass rate across vocational subjects. 

A third of all A level grades were A*-B and our A*-C grades increased by an impressive 22 per cent on the previous year.

Jodie Bolter, principal said: “I am delighted that our results are the best we have ever achieved and this is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication the staff and students have put in."

A-level and vocational results at Trinity High School have gone from strength to strength and this year has seen a significant rise in the number of top grades awarded to students.

Adrian Ward, headteacher, said: "Trinity continues to ensure it provides excellence for all across a broad range of subjects, and I would like to thank all the staff who have worked so hard to help the students achieve such fabulous grades."

Woodrush High School students have yet again excelled in their results with 40 per cent achieving A*B grades.

The school said it was particularly delighted with successes in maths and science courses with 80 per cent of students achieving A*B in physics or chemistry and 70 per cent achieving A*B in maths or further maths.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean congratulated students.

She said: “Congratulations to all A-level students in Redditch who are receiving their results today. I hope all your hard work has paid off.

"If you didn’t get the grades you wanted, don’t panic, there are thousands of university places available through clearing. A-levels are incredibly hard so be proud of your achievements, no matter what grades you received."
