THE opening bandstand event of the year has been hailed a great success.
The event, around the bandstand on Church Green, had a theme of vintage, with vintage cars, Victorian circus acts, and entertainment featuring songs from the 1940s up to the modern day.
Former leader of the council Redditch councillor Bill Hartnett said: "We were joined by visitors from Redditch's twin town in Tanzania Mtwara, who are here in Redditch courtesy of ROWL (Redditch One World Link).
"I met up with friends from Mtwara who I met when I visited there on a twinning visit many years ago.

"I spoke with lots of people and everyone said they were having a great time, there was certainly lots of attractions for all the family."
He added: "I would like to thank Sue Yeng, all who attended, and all who took part and helped in any way to make the day a great success.
"I'm looking forward to the next one in July."
