FORGE Mill Museum is hosting a railway exhibition to help Redditch Model Railway celebrate its 50th anniversary.

From now until April 22 the exhibition will be on display at the museum and will showcase the group’s diverse skill and talent in recreating - in painstaking detail - railway scenes from the golden era of steam and beyond.

The exhibition will feature the Buckshee layout, based on a harbour town in Scotland, which will be operational on certain days throughout the exhibition.

There will also be an additional layout included over the Easter weekend to showcase even more of the group’s work.

During the Easter holidays the museum will be expanding on the train theme with a fun trail around the site looking for different stations as well as a craft activity which will all be included in the museum entry price.

Debbie Lakeman, from the Museum, said: “We are really pleased that we could help the group in celebrating their 50th anniversary and are sure all of our visitors, both children and adults, will really enjoy the exhibition and the trail.”

This month also sees the launch of a new offer at the museum which means visitors will receive a card for three free return visits for this year with every visit they pay for.

This will replace the existing scheme which gives free access on a Wednesday to Redditch residents and aims to provide greater flexibility and opportunity for people to access the museum.
