THE UK’s favourite cycle race series is coming back to Redditch.

The Tour Series Cycle Race returns for its 7th year with pro cyclists taking to the streets around Redditch town centre.

The races will take place on the same 1.4-kilometre circuit based around the Church Green West finish area, including the climb of Unicorn Hill on every lap.

Each of the elite races will tackle multiple laps of the spectator friendly town centre circuit, providing a chance for fans to get close to the action.

Previous winners have included Olympic Gold Medallist Laura Trott and this year promises to be another amazing spectacle.

Worcestershire County Council alongside partners at Redditch Borough Council will be bringing the event to Redditch.

Spectators will not only be able to enjoy the main Tour Series event but are also hosting special trial, as well as the usual community and business races.

Local businesses are being given the chance to support the event with a range of sponsorship packages.

In addition, businesses can enter a team into the Redditch Business Race, sponsored by the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Lorna Jeynes, Worcestershire County Council, said: "The race is such a thrilling, high profile event in our calendar. It has an international reach, attracting large numbers of visitors to the county.

"This event is just one way to show the world that Worcestershire is World Class and very much open for business."

She added: "This is an amazing opportunity for our businesses. We have developed a full range of sponsorship packages to suit businesses small and large."

Last year's event attracted a huge 15,000 spectators, 5m Twitter impressions and was broadcast to over 60 countries.

In addition, it contributed to the local economy with 21 per cent of visitors staying overnight in the town, whilst 54 per cent of people were inspired to cycle more often.

The Tour Series Cycle Race is set to speed through Redditch on Thursday, May 10.
