A CONTROVERSIAL £100m project which could see the creation of more than 2,500 jobs has been put on hold.

The Redditch Eastern Gateway development, which could be sited east of Redditch at the junction of the A4023 and A435 and close to Ravensbank Business Park, went before Stratford planners earlier this week but they could not give the plans the green light.

The application was deferred so that a HGV routing strategy can be provided by the applicant.

Although the applicant submitted an advisory route with the application, the recommendation to committee included the attachment of a condition to require a final HGV routing strategy to be submitted and approved prior to occupation.

Members however wanted this information provided prior to determination.

It is not know when the application will come back to committee.

The potential 75-acre site could see the creation of up to 2,500 jobs and almost one million square feet of new office and industrial space.

However, residents living close by in Winyates Green, have raised concerns relating to traffic, noise and building works of having such a large development in their neighbourhood as well as the overall impact if it's built.

Bromsgrove Council planning committee met on Monday, December 4 and decided to approve the project.

However, because the development is cross-boundary, with the site falling in Bromsgrove, Redditch, and Stratford districts, an identical application has been submitted to each local authority.

Each application has to go to each of the planning committees for determination.

Redditch Borough Council is set to meet to discuss the plans on December 13.

The scheme must gain approval from all three councils to be given full permission.
