Alcester Town Manager Danny Janes said their result on Saturday “had been coming” after his side ran out 9-1 winners over Castle Vale.

Janes made two changes to the side that beat Earslwood Town, handing starts to Ki Donnelly and the returning Chris Lowe.

New signing Niall Sweetman started on the bench, along with the returning Wil Beach.

Alcester started brightly, with clear instructions to retain possession and be patient when going forwards.

Alcester’s patience wasn’t tested however as Bloomer squared the ball for Kalach to make it 1-0 after four minutes.

Within two minutes it was 2-0, this time Chambers setting up Kalach. Kalach then completed his hat-trick with an expert lob over the goalkeeper after a quickly taken Marston free-kick.

Alcester had found their rhythm, moving the ball quickly and opening up the opposition. It took some good goalkeeping from the Castle Vale goalkeeper to deny Bloomer and Ward. Ward finally got his goal after scoring directly from a free-kick.

Alcester started the second half with the intent to continue with the intensity of the first-half, and they did just that.

The menacing Bloomer proved a constant threat all afternoon, he set up Ward for his second of the game.

Matt Chambers then joined in on the action, receiving the ball from Bloomer before expertly finishing into the top corner.

Alcester showed their strength in depth by bringing on Beach, Bevan and Sweetman. Beach made an immediate impact, some more excellent work from Bloomer set Beach up for his first goal for the club.

Bloomer continued to work tirelessly, and he was finally rewarded for his efforts. The direct play of Beach caused problems, he then fed Bloomer who finished off the move.

Bloomer then got his second after Beach caused more problems, tapping home to make it 9-0. Alcester were then rewarded a penalty, Bloomer unfortunately did not convert to seal his hat-trick.

Castle Vale were rewarded their own penalty with two minutes remaining, which they converted well.

Janes said: “A result like that has been on the cards for a few games now, it is about time we produced a score line like that. We have spoken about being more ruthless in games, punishing teams when we create the chances – and we did just that.

“I was delighted with the performance, in games like this it can be easy to lose intensity and the principles you try and use in possession. The players never lost that intensity and they pushed all the way to the final whistle.

"I was delighted again with Jack and the defence, they provided the foundation of our play and looked very solid.

"Chris Lowe was excellent on his return to the club, he will be a very important player for us this season. I was also delighted with Kieran Donnelly, he has been really patient and deserved his start today.

“The midfield looked frightening at times, we have so much quality in that department. It was fantastic to bring on players such as Joe Bevan and Niall Sweetman in there as well, we need strength in depth and we have plenty of it.

"Matthew Chambers was immense today, his passing range and technical ability made us tick. Lewis Fathers is getting better and better with every game, his playing mentality and ability to run a game are so important to us.”

Janes was again keen to highlight the fact that his team can produce so much more, he added:  “Were we at our best today? I don’t think we have reached anywhere near the standard we can produce yet."

The boss admitted he has a major headache over the next couple of games, he said: “It is hard to change a winning team, but we have so much quality in the squad. Any team in this league would love to have the quality on the bench we had today, to bring on the likes of Wil Beach just shows the quality we have.

"The attitude of the players has been fantastic, players know they will get their chances and it is down to them to take them. We also have the likes of Daniel Mumford, James Cund, James Robbins and Ashley Bunn all missing through injury and availability.”
