CANCER survivor Chris Geiger has become the second Great British Bake Off contestant to leave the tent, after he failed to play a winning hand with his biscuit board game.

The sailing enthusiast, 50, departed the show after he came last in a fortune cookie technical challenge and produced a showstopper game described by judge Paul Hollwood as “rough and ready”.

Afterwards he said: “It has been lovely to receive so many messages from cancer patients, I have received congratulations from people that have either been through treatment, or currently having treatment.

“The letters are so moving, when we read them my wife and I are sobbing away like a couple of babies. Something like that makes a whole sense of the competition, big time."

JEREMY Corbyn has presented grime star Stormzy with the best solo artist prize at the GQ Men of the Year awards.

The rapper was one of a string of grime artists who shared their love for the Labour leader ahead of the general election earlier this year.

Mr Corbyn handed over the prize at the star-studded ceremony at the Tate Modern, where Star Wars actor Mark Hamill was presented with the Icon prize by Simon Pegg and Brazil footballer Pele was given the Inspiration award by Gareth Southgate.

STAR Wars: Episode IX writer Colin Trevorrow has “parted ways” with producers Lucasfilm, it has been announced.

The company said that the Jurassic World director would no longer be working on the sci-fi movie franchise’s upcoming instalment due to differing “visions”.

A statement shared on the official Star Wars website on Tuesday read: “Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX.

“Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.

“We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”
