COMMUNITY volunteers across Redditch and Bromsgrove are being invited to sign up to a new project designed to help support vulnerable adults across the county.

Onside, who support people with chronic, long-term health conditions or disabilities, are seeking volunteers for their recently-launched Redditch Community Advocacy Project.

Volunteer advocates will visit people regularly in their own homes to provide a friendly face, social contact and a source of practical help and support.

Deputy chief executive Cathy Jackson-Read said: “Our experience suggests that for some vulnerable people living independently at home can be an isolating and lonely experience.

“Whilst their physical and care needs may be met they often feel confused about the number of people coming into their home and the different agencies involved and don’t always know what to do or who to turn to when services aren’t meeting their needs.

“Our community advocates will provide a single point of contact helping vulnerable adults to navigate their way around health and social care provision.”

The scheme has been funded by Redditch Borough Council.

Volunteers play a vital role in allowing the charity to support vulnerable adults, with Onside particularly keen for volunteers in rural areas.
