A HEARTBROKEN Mike Shinoda has led tributes to his Linkin Park bandmate Chester Bennington.

The 41-year-old was found at his private residence in Palos Verdes Estates, Los Angeles County, at approximately 9am yesterday morning.

It is believed that the singer killed himself.

He is survived by his wife, and six children.

As the news broke, Shinoda tweeted: "Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one."

Grime star Stormzy, who recently collaborated with the band, also took to social media to share his thoughts, tweeting: "I am heartbroken you do not know what someone's going through serious. Prayers up for your family right now my brother."

Justin Timberlake added: "RIP to Chester Bennington and my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and the Linkin Park family. Truly unique, humble frontman."

Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker shared a photograph of him and Chester on Instagram with the caption: "Absolutely heartbroken. I'll cherish every time we hung out or rocked a stage together my friend. Condolences and prayers to friends, family and Linkin Park. So sad."
