REDDITCH residents took part in a special walk encouraging people from different religions to learn about other faiths.

The Redditch Faiths Together Walk, held on Sunday, aims to promote mutual respect and cooperation between all people, including those without a religion.

The walk, which this year coincided with 500 years since the beginning of the European Reformation, started at the Bordesley Abbey ruins in Riverside, where local historian and retired headteacher Ralph Richardson gave a talk about the history of the abbey.

The group then walked to St Stephens Church on Church Green, where there was a panel of five different faith representatives including, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and Catholic who all gave a perspective of what has happened and described what if any changes had taken place in the last 500 years.

The popular event, now in its third year, was organised by Nitin Sodha and Bill Hartnett.

Mr Hartnett said: "This was another demonstration of Redditch at its best and a chance for the borough to celebrate our diversity."
