A WOMAN in her 40s has died in a car crash after hitting a tree in Wythall this morning.

A Fiat 500 was being driven along Hill Lane from Weatheroak Hill towards Chapel Lane at around 9.20am on Wednesday (March 29) when the vehicle is understood to have left the road and collided with a tree.

Ambulance crews were called to the incident after a passer-by came across the crash and stopped to help, but the female driver was sadly confirmed dead on the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Upon arrival ambulance staff found a member of the public performing CPR on the woman.

"Staff and medics took over resuscitation efforts and commenced advanced life support at the roadside.

"Despite the best efforts of the passer by and ambulance staff it was not possible to save the woman and she was confirmed dead on scene.”

Two ambulances, a BASICS doctor, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.

Officers from West Mercia Police are now keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident or who can help with the investigation.
