REDDITCH Borough continued their late charge for a top-two finish by racking up a whopping 14 goals in two matches.

Borough made it seven Midland League Division Two victories in a row with a 9-0 thrashing of bottom club Continental Star on Saturday, which backed up a 5-2 mauling of fifth-placed Paget four days previously.

Steve Joynes (2), Craig Mailins, Oliver Saunders and substitute Billy Garvey did the damage in midweek while Liam Fullerton (2), Jamie Hatfield (2), Garrath Hodgetts, Joynes (2), Fearon and Saunders saw off Star.

Despite the unstoppable form, Borough know their fate is in the hands of others. Table-toppers Droitwich need two points from their last two games to finish above them, while Alvis require 14 points from nine outings to gain a definitive edge.

Workman, whose side play a home match against Coton Green at Littleton tomorrow (7.45), said: “All we can do is keep winning.

“Our form is brilliant at the moment, the lads are brimming with confidence and attacking every match as if a trophy depends on it. Long may that continue.

“We are at the business end of the season and the top two have a big advantage. They even have room to slip up but it is our job to make sure they cannot rest as well as looking to finish as high as we can in our own right.

“You never know what the summer holds at this level so our message to the boys is to keep gunning for it and put ourselves in the best possible position to take advantage of any opportunities that come our way.”

Third-placed Borough do not play on Saturday. Meanwhile, Workman is still waiting on a decision from the Midland League as to whether his side will contest the Les James Challenge Cup final.
