MATCHBOROUGH councillor Juliet Brunner is calling on residents to join her for a community clean up.

The drive follows mounting concerns from residents about the amount of litter in the community.

Cllr Brunner has arranged a community clean up day this Saturday, April 1 starting at 10am, meeting in Matchborough Centre by the steps.

"You can be part of the problem or part of the solution," she said.

"I'm urging Matchborough residents to come help me be part of the solution."

Cllr Brunner is hoping young people will take part and has contacted the school council at Matchborough First School, Noah's Ark Nursery and the ECO committee at Arrow Vale Academy.

The day will be support by West Mercia Police Cadets, McDonalds and Christ Church Community Project.

There will be a litter pick and sign cleansing, and Cllr Brunner is asking people to bring a bucket and sponge to help wash signs.

Afterwards refreshments will be served in Christ Church in Ryton Close, where a PACT meeting with police and councillors will be held.

Cllr Brunner added: "I'm really grateful for the support of Christ Church, McDonalds, West Mercia Police and our local schools and nursery who have enthusiastically agreed to help."
