A STUDLEY girl raised £100 and donated about nine inches of hair to charity.

12-year-old Libby Harding who attends Studley High School had her long locks cut to mid-length to raise cash for The Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair and wigs to children across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Parents Wendy and Simon Tarplee set up the charity after their daughter Hannah lost her battle with cancer in June 2005.

Libby was inspired to brave the scissors after girl at her primary school donated her hair, and after researching the charity decided it was something she needed to do.

Libby said "I decided to do this because there are people in the world who aren't as lucky as me, such as children suffering with cancer, and they would really appreciate it if I gave up something that they need more than I do."

She donated her hair on Saturday, March 11.
