A TEENAGE soldier from Redditch won a top prize when he graduated from a prestigious military training establishment.

Junior soldier Daniel Tyler, 16, was named the best shot in his intake at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, North Yorkshire

The student was presented with his prize as part of a passing out parade.

More than 500 junior soldiers graduated from the college last week, going on to do the next step of their training.

Daniel said: “I was really surprised and proud to have won the prize.

"Now it is time for a bit of holiday before moving on to the next stage of my training at Camberley.

“Being at the Army Foundation College has given me the opportunity to learn skills I never would have been able to in civvy street. The best bits of my time at the college have been learning the military skills and putting them into practise at our final five-day battle camp."

Daniel hopes to go on to become a supply specialist in the Royal Logistic Corps.
