ITV’s The Nightly Show has been savaged by viewers, who called it “drivel” and “cringeworthy” and suggested it was a case of “dumbing down”.

The topical entertainment programme – which will run for eight weeks, hosted by a series of celebrities – was launched at 10pm on Monday, pushing the channel’s flagship news show back half an hour.

Sky News aired its revamped News At 10 in the same slot, setting up a three-way ratings battle with the BBC.

But ITV’s new series may have its work cut out after the first instalment, hosted by David Walliams, was slated online.

COMEDY fans will be delighted to see sitcom Catastrophe return to screens tonight, although they will have to wait for the sixth and final episode of the new series to see late actress Carrie Fisher make an appearance.

The hit programme stars Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney – also the show’s creators – as a couple thrown into a relationship after a steamy liaison led to them having a baby.

Carrie appeared as a guest star in the previous series as the mother of Rob’s character, Rob Norris, and will return for the last episode of the third season.

Sharon has promised the Star Wars actress will have a “bigger, chunkier part” than she did in previous episodes.

MATT LeBlanc has said he faced his share of criticism from “armchair quarterbacks” when he stepped behind the wheel of Top Gear but that he just wanted to take the show forwards.

The former Friends star took over the BBC Two motoring programme alongside Chris Evans after the departure of hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

THE car which rapper Tupac Shakur was in when he was shot and killed is up for sale for 1.5 million US dollars (£1.2 million).

The music star died in September 1996 when the BMW he was in was shot at in a drive-by in Las Vegas.

The BMW 750iL – which once belonged to Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight – is now being listed for sale on the website of California-based memorabilia dealer Moments In Time.
