ANGRY NHS campaigners from Redditch have helped to fill four coaches to take to a national demonstration on Saturday, fighting against cuts to services.

Residents will join hundreds of people and head for London on March 4 to draw attention to the health service crisis in Worcestershire which has afflicted A&E and left community hospital beds under threat.

Bromsgrove Against Cuts (BAC), working under the county-wide banner of ‘It’s Our NHS Worcestershire’, said it has now filled all coaches to the rally, including a Bromsgrove to Redditch coach.

Nationally, organisers estimate around 100,000 people from across the country will attend.

BAC’s Kevin Greenway said: "Bromsgrove and Redditch have come together with hundreds of others from Worcestershire and tens of thousands from across the UK to give a voice of protest.”

The rallying call has been issued following downgrades at Redditch's Alexandra Hospital, patient deaths at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, and a damning CQC report into Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust which runs the hospitals.

Neal Stote, former chairman of Save the Alex who recently organised a stall in the town centre, said that the level of response is fantastic to see.

The demonstration will take place from noon, marching from Tavistock Place to Parliament Square.

Anybody not on coaches interested in joining is being advised to seek train transport.
