NOT just one, but two, pensioners’ advice and information fairs are being organised.

The one-stop shops are designed to introduce support, voluntary and other relevant services and organisations to those of pensionable age in Redditch.

It will be hosted by town MP Karen Lumley.

Mrs Lumley, currently off sick from Parliamentary and constituency duties, has already hosted three job fairs, an apprenticeship and skills fair and a charity funding fair.

The pensioner fairs are set to follow.

To date, around 20 organisations have confirmed their attendance including Act on Energy, Age UK, Citizens Advice, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, The National Trust, West Mercia Police, Carers Careline, and Redditch Association for the Blind.

Mrs Lumley, who may not be able to attend herself, said: “Youngsters starting university have fresher fairs and for those seeking employment I run regular job fairs, so I wanted to replicate this successful concept for my older constituents who may not be aware of the fantastic breadth of organisations out there with services they may find valuable.

“The idea is to bring together, under one roof, a mix of statutory, voluntary and activity-based bodies who can showcase their services.”

The fairs will be on Friday, March 3 from 10am to noon at the Rocklands Social Club in Headless Cross and Friday, March 17 from 10am to noon at the Mettis (formerly HDA) Social Club in Batchley.

Admission to both is free and refreshments will be provided.
