SHOP bought curries are never going to be the finest of delicacies but some are a lot worse than others.

For one unlucky Redditch resident his convenient Tesco meal turned out to be anything but.

The Chicken tikka Masala, which comes with a warning that it may contain whole spices which should be removed prior to consumption, came with something else extra - an entire J-cloth.

Not a bit of the cloth, or a stray piece of material, but the entire cloth which was vacuum sealed in the meal.

Resident Christopher Harper, who bought what he thought would be a tasty meal from the Tesco in Coldfield Drive, for his eight-year-old son, said he was shocked at the unsavoury discovery.

"Luckily for us my wife opened it for my son... she let out an 'oh my God'," he said.

"We were were both shocked that something that large could manage to get to the shop floor.

"Obviously its not a piece of chewing gum, an insect, rodent, or nail clipping, but it's just as bad.

"Worse in some cases as it's blue and quite large."

Mr Harper's wife Emma returned it to the store the same evening and handed the unpalatable dish to surprised staff at the customer service desk who admitted that they had never seen anything like it.

The family were given a replacement curry and £10 gift card.

But Mr Harper said: "We will continue to shop at the store and also purchase their curries.

"However, it does make you wonder what you are consuming once you find something."

A spokesman from Tesco said: "We have robust food quality processes in place during the preparation and packaging of this product, so we were surprised to hear about this incident.

"We are investigating what may have happened and will keep Mr Harper updated.”
