THE police and crime commissioner for West Mercia Police is urging youngsters to join their police cadets.
The scheme, which is grant funded by the commissioner, is aimed at giving 16 and 17 year olds the opportunity to help their communities.
It also allows them opportunities in volunteering as well as to gain an understanding of policing.
Police and crime commissioner John Campion said “Our cadets are a credit to our communities, providing a valuable contribution to helping others.
"I am pleased to support this scheme which benefits the young people who take part, as well as wider society.
"I’ve seen first hand how the cadets form some great friendships, get a real insight into life in the police and learn some valuable skills which will benefit them in the future.
"I’d encourage other young people to get involved, and play an important part in helping us to build safer, more secure communities."
To be a cadet, applicants must be aged 16 and have finished their GCSEs.
Meetings take place every Thursday at Tudor Grange Academy on Bilford Road in Worcester
West Mercia Police chief superintendent Charlie Hill said “By joining the cadets, young people make a very valuable contribution to our local communities.
"The scheme is aimed at giving young people a practical understanding of policing, whilst enabling them to develop their skills and make a difference in their community through a variety of exciting and engaging activities.”
