A MAN has been arrested following a drugs raid at properties on Haseley Close and Woodfield Close in Redditch.

The 38-year-old man from Redditch was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled drugs of class A with intent to supply and is currently in custody at Kidderminster police station.

During the raid, last Friday morning, police seized suspected class A drugs and a large quantity of cash.

A Section 18 Police and Criminal Evidence Act search was also conducted at a pub off Matchborough Way following the man's arrest.

PC Rich Field, who led the investigation said: "Drugs blight our communities and lead to an increase in violent crime, disorder and acquisitive crime. Drug dealing is a high priority for us, and as part of that, we welcome all information provided by the public.

"A key component is the reduction of supply and demand achieved through the identification and dismantling of trafficking and dealer networks, and the warrants executed today is an example of this."

"We will continue to execute drugs warrants and other operations in order to disrupt the activity of drug dealers, and want to encourage people to pass on any suspicions or concerns they have."

Police have said that if anyone has information about drug dealers they can contact the police directly by ringing the non-emergency number 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A spokesman said they take all reports seriously, investigate them thoroughly and if appropriate act on the information provided.
