THE future of Britain's biggest celebration of country sports looks brighter than ever following The Game Fair's nomination for a rural Oscar.

The popular three-day festival, which was held in the Ragley Estate in summer, has been nominated in the Tourism Enterprise category of The Countryside Alliance Awards.

Managing director James Gower said: "It is an immense honour to have received public nomination for an award which recognises the efforts of the entire Game Fair Team.

"This endorsement highlights our commitment to continuing The Game Fair legacy way beyond its 59th Year. It is important to us to be of relevance for more than just the duration of our event."

Nominations for the awards are put forward by the public and they aim recognise and honour those who routinely go the extra mile for their community.

The 2016 event saw more than 100,000 flock to the Warwickshire estate to take part in a range of activities including dog competitions, fishing demonstrations and shooting.

The competition winners will be announced in spring.

The Game Fair is being held at Hatfield House next year. For more information visit thegamefair.org.
