ARE you looking for the perfect place to celebrate Bonfire Night? Here’s a handy list of the top events in Redditch and Alcester.

There are just a few days until spectacular fireworks and sizzling bonfires fill the skies and lands for Guy Fawkes Night.

The fun kicks off on Thursday, November 3 with Redditch Borough Council’s annual 'Firework Spectacular'.

The event at Arrow Valley Country Park will start with the funfair at 6pm, followed by roadshow entertainment from local acts Lost at Home and Flex from 6.30pm.

At 7.30pm Redditch Mayor Joe Baker will begin the huge firework display before more entertainment from Lost at Home.

Councillor Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers leisure services, said: "The evenings are getting darker, days are getting colder and the trees are losing their leaves which means it must be time for the most spectacular event of the year! Grab your gloves, hat and scarf and get ready for a free, fun and family friendly firework spectacular to enjoy – whatever the weather."

Admission to the event is free but there will also be food concession stands and Wilson’s fun fair which charge.

There will be disabled parking at the Battens Drive entrance and a free park and ride service, operated by Diamond, for visitors from Moons Moat Drive near the event parking on Merse Road from 5.45pm.

A bus will then depart every 15 minutes until the last pick up in time for the fireworks display which departs 7pm.

Return trips start at 8.15pm and run every 15 minutes until the last bus at 9.15pm. This year the drop off point will be at the underpass on Paper Mill Drive, which is a short walk from the event.

A small section of road on Battens Drive will be closed in both directions from its junction with Hopyard Lane to its junction with Padgets Lane between 6pm and 9pm.

For more details contact the borough council’s Arts and Events team on 01527 534030 or go to redditchbc.gov.uk and search fireworks.

On Friday, November 4 at 6.30pm, Alcester will be awash with colour for the annual the 'Bonfire and Firework Extravaganza'.

The event at Alcester Rugby Club, Birmingham Road, Kings Coughton, will include amusements, stalls, a bar and a barbecue.

Following the lighting of the bonfire at 7.30pm, there will be a traditional firework display to entertain crowds.

There will be free parking at the venue for spectators.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for children under 16. People can turn up on the night and pay the entrance fee.

On Bonfire Night, Saturday, November 5, Redditch Fire Station, located on Birmingham Road, will host its annual bonfire and firework display.

The event, which has in previous years attracted hundreds of local people, will open its doors at 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and the firework display is scheduled to start shortly after.

There will be a range of children’s activities and roundabout rides; as well as a selection of hot food and refreshments available.

Redditch Young Firefighters will also be on hand to help with the evening and the Red Cross will be on site for any first aid requirements.

Entry costs £4 per adult and £2 per child. Following last year’s event, the fire service made donations to local charities, including the Red Cross and the Redditch branch of the Young Firefighters Association.

Crew commander Bob Morris, based at Redditch Fire Station, said: "Our annual Bonfire Party is an event we all look forward to and it’s great to see people enjoying both the fireworks and the traditional bonfire in a safe environment.

He continued: "A lot of our regular visitors have requested we hold the event again this year."

Anyone planning to drive to the event is requested to park safely and considerately in nearby roads, as there is no parking at the fire station itself.
