STAFF and pupils at a Redditch school are celebrating a record-breaking result after placing in the top one per cent of schools nationally.

Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School placed 18th out of 4,495 schools nationally in the new league tables.

The school is also confirmed as the top performing in the Midlands (East and West) and the top performing Catholic school outside London.

Principal Anthony Quinn said: "The outstanding student outcomes that has been achieved, followed by national recognition, is testament to the judicious planning which ensures the maintenance of high levels of student progress by colleagues at Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School.

"Our priority has always been to develop the whole child by providing an all-round education. We are therefore delighted to have performed so well, not only at county level, but also from a national perspective."

Head of school Gerald O’Connor added: "We are delighted with the outstanding results achieved by our students. A continued and unwavering focus on those subjects that we believe will best serve our students in the future, including English and Maths, has stood us in good stead."

An open evening for potential students is being held at the school on Wednesday, November 9 from 6.30pm.
