A REDDITCH dental practice recently celebrated a special milestone.

Redhouse, the oldest dental practice in Redditch, celebrated its 70th anniversary with a party for colleagues and patients, some of who have been going to the practice for more than 40 years.

They included former town mayor Madge Tillsey MBE who talked about her fondness for the team who, she said, offer a winning mix of service, friendship, hospitality and kindness.

Her message to the team was simple “Keep going - don’t pack up".

Drs Dinesh and Sarbjit Phakkey took over the practice in 1990 from the late Dr Dev Khosla.

Mrs Khosla also spoke of her delight to see it expand and develop while still retaining the community-focused values and standards of care that her husband established.

Dr Dinesh Phakkey said: “We have a cumulative experience of more than 160 years.

“I’ve also been looking back in the records and discovered that, since 1990, more than 31,000 patients have walked through our familiar red door. I’m proud to have such a hardworking and caring team and delighted to be paying tribute to them in this significant year.

"It’s also wonderful that many of our patients have joined us today. We look forward to many more years here on Prospect Hill.”

Despite it being a dentist party there was a cake, and everyone was treated to a slice, as well as food and celebratory fizz.

There was also music from Dr Teeth Big Band which kept toes tapping with their own brand of rhythm and blues, jazz, funk and soul.

The party continued well into the afternoon, with guests given goodie bags (with treats for their teeth including toothbrushes and toothpaste) to remind them of why the practice is the place for healthy smiles.
