DAME Barbara Windsor has been honoured for her outstanding contribution to television at the 20th annual TV Choice Awards.

The ceremony saw the biggest names in television being honoured at a star-studded event held at London’s Dorchester hotel.

ITV soap Emmerdale was the other big winner as it was named best soap over EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks for the very first time.

The swansong series of Downton Abbey was named best drama series, while best actor went to Tom Hiddleston for BBC One’s The Night Manager.

SINGER Michael Ball has said he has “big shoes to fill” as he takes on the late Sir Terry Wogan’s role presenting Proms In The Park.

Sir Terry hosted the outdoor concert in London’s Hyde Park for 18 years, from 1997 to 2015.

Radio 2 presenter Michael will now host the classical music event, after Sir Terry died in January 2016 aged 77.

THE cast of hit comedy drama Cold Feet has reunited on screen as the show returned after a 13-year absence.

The Manchester-based show ran for five series between 1997 and 2003, with more than 10 million viewers tuning in for the emotional finale.

The first episode of the new series featured Adam, played by James Nesbitt, announcing his impending marriage to Angela, played by Karen David, as he returned home after years of working abroad.

MICHELLE Keegan has admitted that she is too embarrassed to watch herself being interviewed.

The former Corrie star – who drew criticism this week when she said during an interview that football “wasn’t a major sport in the 60s” – said she does not like to see herself answering questions on screen.

However, she is happy to watch herself playing other people.

THE second series of Poldark has only just kicked off, but filming on the third series of the popular BBC period drama has already begun.

Leading stars Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson – who play Captain Ross Poldark and his wife Demelza – will be joined by returning cast members Heida Reed, Jack Farthing, Ruby Bentall, Gabriella Wilde and Luke Norris as shooting continues over the coming months in Cornwall and Bristol.

They will also welcome three young actors: Harry Richardson and Tom York will play Demelza’s brothers Drake and Sam, and Ellise Chappell will join the fray as Morwenna, the cousin of Reed’s character Elizabeth.
