RESIDENTS have been reassured over the increase of shed burglaries in Headless Cross.

The Advertiser reported recently that people have been urged to secure their garages and sheds following a spate of thefts in the Headless Cross and Oakenshaw area.

Police have said they believe the incidents may be linked and that the perpetrator may also be local to the area.

Officers were reminding residents to lock sheds, fit good quality locks to the door, fit grilles or mesh to the windows, or even invest in an alarm.

Headless Cross Councillor Tom Baker-Price met with West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John-Paul Campion to discuss the recent increase in burglaries and provide reassurance to the local community.

Cllr Baker-Price said: "I met with the commissioner to discuss local policing and partnership work to help reduce crime in Redditch.

"I am also meeting with the community safety team at the council to ensure our residents have access to advice to make their homes safer."

Mr Campion said he was pleased to hear the local police have been responding and vowed to make sure those responsible are brought to justice."
