STAFF at a popular Redditch Indian restaurant are celebrating after receiving acclaim in a national competition.

The Shahi Palace, in Hewell Road, was nominated in the annual Tiffin Cup competition, which aims to find the best South Asian restaurant, by town MP Karen Lumley.

The competition, which this year celebrates its decade anniversary, offers MPs an opportunity to champion a business in their community.

Although the restaurant did not make the final, they did pick up a highly commended award which Mrs Lumley presented to staff on Friday, July 22.

Mrs Lumley said: "I love South Asian food as much as anybody and we are very lucky in Redditch that we have such a high quality venue as the Shahi. That is why it was such a pleasure to visit again and make this highly commended presentation."

All proceeds from this year's competition will be donated to World Vision and WaterAid.
