THE brother of a Marlbrook teen who committed suicide has reunited the twins' former football team for a match in aid of a youth suicide charity.

19-year-old Lawrence Batten attempted to take his own life at home on August 29, 2015, after battling with depression.

He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch but died on September 3.

Almost a year on, Lawrence's twin brother Nick, 20, has reunited the Alvechurch Lions to raise money for teenage suicide charity Papyrus.

He said: "We grew up playing for the same team from the age of 10. I've got all the lads together that we used to play with to play a game of football for charity.

"We haven't spoken in a few years but once they heard what happened they were all on board straight away. We're probably going to carry on doing it after as well."

Nick thinks his brother would be really happy to see the old team back together.

"It's all for him," he added.

Burcot Grange in Bromsgrove has sponsored the match by providing football kits for the players.

The match will kick off at Studley Sports Centre at 12.30pm on Sunday, July 24.

The event is free to attend and the team will be collecting donations to Papyrus on the day.
