STAFF and residents at a care home in Redditch are celebrating after the home was awarded a ‘Good’ rating by the country’s health and social care watchdog.

Following an unannounced inspection by regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Brambles Residential Care Home, in Birchfield Road, has achieved an overall ‘Good’ rating.

It also achieved ‘Good’ ratings in all five of the areas inspected by CQC – which assess whether care homes are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Following a tea party held to celebrate the report, manager Margaret Hook said: “I am immensely proud of my team here. At Sanctuary Care our ethos is keeping kindness at the heart of our care and the fantastic people I have caring for our residents each and every day truly embody just that.

“The lovely comments in the report from our residents and their loved ones are really touching and make me feel so proud to be part of The Brambles family.”

The report highlights how the team are kind and caring, with comments including “…staff communicated with people in a kind, caring and considerate way".

It talks about the “laughter and good hearted banter” between the team and their residents.

Another area praised was the quality of the food and revealed how welcoming the team are at making friends and relatives feel at home when they visit.

In the part of the report that rates the home’s effectiveness, it praised the quality of the staff training, reading “one relative told us ‘the staff are very knowledgeable’ and puts this down to the training they had received".
