A POLICE officer was among three people who were stabbed when a water fight in central London turned ugly.

The large crowd gathered for the spontaneous water fight in Hyde Park as temperatures soared on Tuesday, but became hostile towards officers as the evening wore on.

Police who had been monitoring the crowds near the historic Serpentine lake from 3pm were pelted with missiles including bottles, one of which injured an officer.

Three people have died following a disturbance at a block of flats in Aberdeen.

Police were called to a flat in a 19-storey high rise called Donside Court, in the Tillydrone area of the city, at around 8.15pm on Tuesday night.

Detective Superintendent Dave McLaren, from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, said: "As a result of this incident three persons are now known to have died.

Residents have described their shock after a  worker from a builder's merchant is believed to have shot dead his wife and daughter near a swimming pool.

The horror unfolded near Castle Swimming Pool in Spalding, Lincolnshire, when Lance Hart, 57, killed partner Claire, 50, and 19-year-old daughter Charlotte with a shotgun, before turning the weapon on himself.

The local community reacted with shock. A resident of Pinchbeck Road, near the swimming pool, said she was "terrified" when she heard the news.

Patients who do not visit their GP for five years face being axed from their doctor's surgery under plans being rolled out across England.

Under the initiative, those who have not seen their GP for five years will be sent two letters asking them to respond.

If they cannot be contacted to say they still wish to be registered with their doctor, they will be removed from the practice list.
