REDDITCH Lions Club recently celebrated a change of president with outgoing president Carole Andrews passing on the chain of office to Phil Lawrence.

The club, which raises vital cash for good causes, celebrated the handover with a garden bbq in Webheath.

Ever since Children in Need was introduced in November 1980, when Terry Wogan’s first telethon took place, Redditch Lions have collected from the people of Redditch and surrounding areas.

To date, some £50k to £60k has been raised.

Christmas is a an important time for the club, as it relies on the local community to donate to its welfare projects fund in order to redistribute every single penny donated, back to those who need some help.

Nothing from these collections is used to support running the club, that comes from members themselves.
