TWO Redditch care homes marked National Care Home Open Day with a visit from Redditch MP Karen Lumley.

Residents and staff at Leonard Cheshire’s Saltways facility in Church Road, Webheath, and Brambles Care Home in Birchfield Road, Headless Cross met with Mrs Lumley on Friday, June 17.

On the visits, Mrs Lumley said: "National Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what excellent care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of local communities, developing relationships across the generations, and this is certainly the case in Redditch.

"Both Brambles and Saltways, along with the many other care homes in Redditch, provide a fantastic service to our loved ones and it was lovely to visit them to see this first hand."

Operated by the Sanctuary Care Group, Brambles provides a range of care and support for residents, including residential care, dementia care and respite care.

Saltways provide support and nursing care for physically disabled adults.

Care Home Open Day is a UK-wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities.

Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities that help to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.
