A FIRE which led to a three-storey building in Redditch Town Centre being evacuated was caused by an electrical fault in an extraction fan, investigators say.

Three fire engines from Redditch and one from Bromsgrove attended the blaze Aspire Hair and Beauty in Market Place at 10.20am on Wednesday, June 15.

Four extinguishers, one hose reel jet and four breathing apparatuses were used to put out the blaze.

@HWFireRedditch tweeted at 10.20pm on Wednesday, June 15: "Crews extinguish fire in hair salon on second floor of building Market Place, Redditch, all persons safely evacuated."

Posting on Facebook business owner Lynsey Tudor confirmed the fire.

"Thank God everyone got out okay, just a lot of smoke damage," she said.

On Saturday, June 18, Mrs Tudor added: "I would like to say a massive thank you to all our clients this week that have been supportive over what feels like the worst few days ever.

"The hair department is operating as normal but we do have a few changes in the beauty department, due to the whole of upstairs being completely wiped out from the fire."

Crews left the scene just before 1pm.
