ALCESTER Library will close temporarily for just over two weeks before moving to the Cultural Hub in Globe House.

The library will close at 5.30pm on Thursday, January 21 and reopen on Monday, February 8 inside its new location in Priory Road.

Warwickshire County Councillor Mike Gittus said: “We are very much looking forward to the re-opening of Globe House which will bring together a great range of services under one roof.

“This is the culmination of five years of work negotiating, re-structuring, re-organising, financing and pooling public support.”

During this time customers will be without a library but will still be able to access services, including renewing and reserving items, viewing e-books and free online reference materials, by visiting warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries.

Items can also be renewed by phone 24 hours a day by calling 01926 499273.

The hub will incorporate many of the town's assets including the Town Council, Roman Alcester Museum, a range of voluntary organisations, council services and police reporting services.

The old library building is to be sold and the proceeds used to generate funds to set up at Globe House, the former office of Stratford District Council, which in recent years had became redundant.
