Town to host green fair

ENVIRONMENTALLY conscious residents who worry about global warming are being invited to a green fair.

The fair, organised by Redditch Alliance of Greens, has been timed to coincide with World Environment Day on Wednesday June, 5, a global day of awareness raising.

It will feature a range of local green companies, environmental organisations and campaign groups.

Kevin White, of Redditch Friends of the Earth (FoE), said: "We believe this is the first time that an official World Environment Day event has been staged in Redditch.

"We all worry about how global warming will effect our children's future but we can massively reduce our impact on the planet by making a few simple changes to our daily lives."

Stalls will be selling organic produce, wind-up radios, ethical stationery, Fairtrade goods, eco-friendly cleaning products and all visitors will be entered into a free prize draw.

Paul Roberts, also of Redditch FoE, said: "The fair will perhaps be twice a big as last year's so there will be a far greater variety of eco-friendly products on sale and more issues covered on the campaign stalls.

"This is a fantastic event for anyone trying to live a cleaner, greener life."

The fair is on Saturday, June 2 from 10.30am-3pm at St Stephen's Church.
